Struben House (KS 1)

ISCT’s new campus, Struben House, opened its doors in January 2016. Struben House is a grand old home which is kept in a trust by the Child Welfare society. ISCT has a long term lease and has given Key Stage 1 their own space in which to learn. Struben has kept the warmth and character of Woodland Heights, our other campus, and the children love the specially designed classrooms and beautiful garden with it’s majestic 500 year old Yellowwood in its centre.

There are 2 classes in every Year group, with class sizes of between 16-18 students. Children can enter the Nursery class if they are between 3y6m and 4y6m in the January of their Nursery year. The Nursery class provides a structured learning environment to learn the foundation skills a child needs in order to start the more formal programme in Reception. There is a lot of time to play as well!

In Reception (4y6m-5y6m) the formal literacy and numeracy begins, as per the UK curriculum, and our children are reading and writing by the end of their Reception year. South African parents please note this is the equivalent of a South African Grade 1.
