Over 150 years ago, in an effort to raise standards of education around the world, Cambridge Assessment was born. Today, more than 8 million students a year in 160 countries, sit exams set by the University of Cambridge. Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS & A Levels are recognised and respected as a passport to success—in further education and employment.
CAMBRIDGE IGCSE
Established more than 30 years ago, today, Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. By emphasising the student’s role in learning, Cambridge IGCSE develops students holistically.
CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL AS & A LEVELS
Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS Level) and Cambridge International Advanced Level (A Level) are taken by 17 to 18 year olds in their last two years of high school education. The curriculum prepares them for university study by developing higher-order thinking skills and in-depth subject knowledge.

ISCT CAMBRIDGE EARLY YEARS
Our programme follows a holistic approach that focuses on the whole child and connects their development with the world and people around them.
It is built around four key areas of early childhood development: cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language growth.
Language of Instruction
At the International School of Cape Town, we teach in English and warmly embrace children from all language backgrounds, supporting them as they develop their English language skills.
Curriculum Areas
Our six curriculum areas help guide and support each child’s progress across all stages of early development. Together, they provide a balanced and holistic foundation for lifelong learning.
Communication and Literacy
Speaking, listening, reading, and writing are central to every child’s early growth. Through storytelling, songs, and playful activities, children discover the power of language. By engaging with a wide range of texts, they develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong curiosity for learning.
Creative Expression
Creative expression allows children to explore and communicate their ideas through art, music, dance, and drama. These activities nurture imagination, problem-solving, and innovation, while connecting skills from across the curriculum.
Mathematics
Early exposure to mathematical concepts helps children see the role of numbers, shapes, and patterns in everyday life. Through games and practical activities, they develop mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a solid foundation for future learning.
Physical Development
Physical play supports coordination, balance, strength, and overall health. By encouraging movement through fun activities and outdoor play, children develop positive attitudes toward exercise and gain confidence in their physical abilities.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
This area underpins all learning, helping children build friendships, manage emotions, and develop empathy. It fosters self-esteem, resilience, and independence, giving children the confidence to engage fully in their learning and the wider community.
Understanding the World
Children’s natural curiosity is encouraged as they explore the world around them. Through investigation, observation, and hands-on experiences, they develop knowledge and skills across science, technology, computing, and humanities — laying the groundwork for later learning and discovery.
