The Beacon Scholarship is a leadership development programme that identifies and supports young people with strong academic ability, leadership potential, and personal motivation. The programme enables students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to access some of the top schools in the region and continue on to leading international universities. It is underpinned by a commitment to mentorship, leadership training, and financial assistance.
How The Beacon Scholarship Works
The Beacon Scholarship is a shared investment in a student’s future. Once selected:
- The Beacon Equity Trust contributes one-third of the annual school tuition fees.
- ISCT provides a matching scholarship amount.
- Parents, sponsors, or guardians contribute the remaining balance, including any extras.
Beacon Scholars are expected to uphold academic excellence, demonstrate consistent leadership in their school and community environments, and fully engage in the Beacon Leadership Development Programme each year.
Eligibility and Application
Candidates must be from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and demonstrate:
- A track record of academic achievement
- Strong leadership potential and personal initiative
- Active participation in community service or extracurricular activities
- Proven financial need
The selection process is managed independently by The Beacon Equity Trust and includes a detailed application, interviews, and assessments. Successful applicants are formally admitted into the programme and enrolled at ISCT under a co-funded model.
